Artists Bio

Tania Franco Klein
(b. in Mexico City, 1990)

Franco Klein has been exhibited across Europe, USA, and Mexico. Her work is highly influenced by her fascination with social behavior and contemporary practices such as leisure, consumption, media overstimulation, emotional disconnection, the obsession with eternal youth, the American dream in the Western world, and the psychological sequels they generate in our everyday life.

Mara Sánchez Renero
(b. in Mexico City, 1979)

Sánchez-Renero’s work has been awarded and exhibited in various places worldwide. Her project ‘El Cimarrón y su fandango’ is part of the Visual Art Program from the “Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores” of Mexico and has been exhibited in Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Belize and Panama. She holds the prestigious Mexican national grant for mid-career artists from “Sistema Nacional de Creadores de México” (FONCA 2018-2020).

Danila Tkachenko
(b. in Moscow, Russia, 1989) Lives and works in Moscow (Russia).

A multi awarded young artist, he won the World Press Photo 2014 with his project ‘Escape’. In March 2015 he finished the iconic series ‘Restricted Areas’ which has received numerous international awards and has been included in magazines like BBC Culture, The Guardian, El País, IMA Magazine, GUP Magazine, British Journal of Photography. In September 2018, ALMANAQUE fotográfica proudly presented his first solo show in the Americas: Danila Tkachenko, Rusia 1989.

Fernando Bayona
(b. in Montizón, Spain, 1980) Lives and works between Madrid, Málaga and Granada (Spain).

Bayona oeuvre has been exhibited at a myriad art venues at Miami, Nueva York, Buenos Aires, Bruselas, Berlín, Milán, Roma, Venecia, Osaka, Túnez, Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Bilbao, as well as many art fairs. He is recipient of many prized and scholarships and his work is included in many prestigious collections including CA2M, Unicaja & Fundación Botí Spain, BSI Bank Switzerland, Eberhard, FORMA (Centro Internazionale di Fotografía) and Fundación Luciano Benetton Italy and Bayer Germany.

Nicolás Janowski
(b. in Argentina, 1980) Lives and works in Buenos Aires (Argentina).

Selected by TIME Magazine as one of the 9 photographers to follow in Argentina, Janowski’s work has been exhibition in solo and collective shows, as well as in festivals, in Latin America, Europe, USA, India, Japan and China. Among other awards, Janowski has received the 3rd Premio Burn For Emerging Photographer of Magnum Foundation (2015), and the 1st Place Fotolibro Latinoamericano 2017 for his book ‘Fin del Mundo’ in the Coloquio Latinoamericano de Fotografía (México).

Jesús León

Jesús León is an acute self-taught documentary photographer with a rare contemporary eye. Almost two decades ago, he launched Domestic Fine Arts, which accumulates more than 200,000 Mexico City’s vibrant countercultures scenes. This work has gained international recognition with exhibitions in Mexico, USA, Japan or Sweden. León just released his awaited book VIDA published by the prestigious booker Patrick Frey Edition - Switzerland. His oeuvre is part of the Colección Jumex.


Gallery Statement

ALMANAQUE opened in 2016 in the Colonia Roma in Mexico City with a space dedicated to the exhibition and sale of limited and certified contemporary photography by international artists. It offers professional consulting in interior design and curatorial services related to photography.
