Charrière studied at Ecole cantonale d‘art du Valais Switzerland (2006), Berlin University of Arts (2007) and Institut für Raumexperimente (2011). Some of his solo exhibitions include ‘Julian Charrière und Julius von Bismarck’, Kunstpalais Erlangen; ‘As We Used to Float’, GASAG Kunstpreis, Berlinische Galerie, Berlin; ‘An Invitation to Disappear | Giétro 2018 – 1818’, Dam of Mauvoisin, Musée de Bagnes, Le Châble and Kunsthalle Mainz; ‘Objects In Mirror Might Be Closer Than They Appear’ with Julius von Bismarck, Swiss Institute, New York (all in 2018); and ‘DAS NUMEN – Meatus’, DITTRICH & SCHLECHTRIEM, Berlin (2017).
Founded in 2011 by Lars Dittrich and André Schlechtriem, the gallery represents renowned international artists. In January 2017 the gallery’s dedication and support of innovative emerging + established artists allowed for the evolution of its program and relocation in Berlin to the expanded gallery at Linienstrasse 23. The gallery regularly engages with institutional + curatorial projects, enhancing the profile of the artists and creating opportunity for artistic development. Represented artists are included in worldwide biennials and significant museum collections and exhibitions.
