(b. in Mexico City, 1989) Lives and works in San Juan (Puerto Rico) and México City.
The work of Ulrik López is concerned with the exchange and circulation of objects, and their transition from ideas to phenomenons in relation to space. López understands his practice as that of an amateur forensic or an archaeologist that interprets materials and images in order to convey all the coded information they might contain a priori. Through this approach, objects and materials become fossils awaiting interpretation and readings, thus using their intrinsic capacity to communicate ideas and information as a vehicle and a foundation for his pieces, while addressing issues of perception and representation.
