Gallery Statement

MARGEN is a space dedicated to the creation, production and exhibition of artistic projects. It was born with the intention of answering to artists needs of internationalization and projection in different artistic scenarios, without the obligation of being represented by a third party in order to attain visibility. MARGEN started in 2017 when Colomba Fontaine, Pilar Mackenna, María Ossandón and Isidora Villarino, chilean visual artists, noticed similarities in the content of their works and decided to exploit it by interlacing different disciplines under the same light: the place they inhabit from a geographical point, taking into consideration different natural phenomena, territorial limits, climate duality and tectonic flaws; aspects of their country that, in one way or another, are connected by the idea of isolation and instability. MARGEN is located in Santiago (Chile); it is an open space for the development of collective projects and a showroom that promotes constant exchange between artists who are in a similar situation to theirs and interested in working interdisciplinarily and collectively, encouraging a systematic practice and permanent discussion of his works.
