Artists Bio

Mónica Heller
(b. in Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1975) Lives and works in Buenos Aires (Argentina).

Heller is a visual artist whose work is mainly developed in the field of video art and 2d and 3d animation. She has participated in the Artists Program of the Di Tella University (2009). She was awarded a scholarship by the MMSN Foundation to perform a residency at Hangar Centro de Creación Contemporánea, Barcelona (2010). Her works were exhibited individually and collectively in Buenos Aires, Rosario, Salta, San Martin de los Andes, Tucuman, Barcelona, ​​Santiago de Chile, London, Lyon, Sao Paulo and Berlin, among others. She has been awarded by the Salón 50 años Fondo Nacional de las Artes 2009, Itaú Cultural Prize 2010, MUNT Contemporary Art Salon Tucumán 2017, First Prize Andreani Foundation 2017. Since 2012, together with Marcelo Galindo, the animation series ‘Ciudad Elemental’, thanks to the support of Plataforma Futuro, Cultura de la Nación, which was presented at the MALBA auditorium in April 2018 and at Mundo Dios, Mar del Plata.

Fátima Pecci Carou
(b. in Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1984) Lives and works in Buenos Aires (Argentina).

Pecci Carou is a painter and musician. She holds a BFA in Visual Arts by the Universidad del Museo Social Argentino. She studied History of Art in the UBA. She took a workshop with Ana Gallardo and was an agent at the Artistic Research Center. Pecci Carou won the Prize in Obra (Work) awarded by arteBA Barrio Joven Galería Piedras SoloShow and the first prize in painting in Salon Vicentín (Santa Fe). She has participated in collective and individual exhibitions. She is part of the Asamblea de Trabajadoras del Arte Nosotras Proponemos and also produces the feminist fanzine XOXO to promote women artists and bands.

Gallery Statement

PIEDRAS is a gallery and artist run space of exchange. It works as a platform for diverse encounters reguardin exhibitions, activities, residencies and parties, moments tightly linked to the inquiry of new modes of thinking and experimenting in contemporary art, without the fear of questioning its more traditional formats.
This project emerged in 2014 and is located in a historic palace of the early twentieth century in the neighborhood Once of Buenos Aires. PIEDRAS focuses on the representation of emerging and mid-career artists born between the 70s and 90s. Its annual program includes eight exhibitions, both individual and collective, and a series of activities and actions designed to enrich and complement each of its shows.
