Gallery Statement

stadium is a space for contemporary art founded in December 2017 by Juan Pablo Larraín and Stefanie Sprinz. The 2,20m high mezzanine is located in a backyard of Potsdamer Strasse, Berlin’s new pungent art district, and used to host the city’s biggest pre-internet bureau for classified advertising, later a tattoo studio and then a storage room. After a long time in moulding abandonment, the place was renovated with care and stadium opened to the public in December 2017 with a group exhibition titled ‘Featherstrokes of a damozel’. stadium is conceived as an exhibition room for upcoming Berlin and Germany-based artists, inviting them to deal with the particular characteristics of the space, mostly in individual projects. It aims to sustain a consistent program of 8 to 9 exhibitions a year and be a meeting point in Berlin’s art circuit.
